【例文】

3年ねんぶりに彼かれの家いえに行いきました。
I went to his house for the first time in three years.

【意味・用法】
「一年ぶりに、３か月ぶりに」のように、時を表す語と一緒に使われ、あることが一定の期間の後に再びを行われたり起こったりするという意味を表します。

【英語】for the first time in ~,

"~burini" is used in conjunction with a temporal term, as in "いちねん-buri" or "３かげつ-buri" and means "for the first time in~".

【Grammar point】

■ 使い方

「～年/～ヵ月」といった比較的長い期間を表す語と共に使われることが多いですが、話し手がその時間を心理的に長いと感じている場合であれば、「～日/～時間」のような比較的短い期間を表す語とも使えます。

1. ４年ねんぶりに彼かれと会あいました。〇
He came to school for the first time in three days.

2. 彼かれは３日みっかぶりに学校がっこうに来きた。〇
He came to school for the first time in three days.

3. 5時間じかんぶりにやっとタバコが吸すえる。〇
I can finally smoke a cigarette after 5 hours.

■ 注意すべき点

「N＋ぶりに」は、ある一定期間をあけて、あることを”再び”したり、起こったりするときに使われ、単純に、ある一定期間の間あることをしていないという場合には使われません。

4. ~~私わたしは３年ねんぶりにフランス語ごを話はなしていません~~。✖
I have not spoken French for 3 years.

5. 私わたしは３年ねんぶりにフランス語ごを話はなしました。〇
I spoke French for the first time in three years.

■ 定型表現

「久しぶり」「しばらくぶり」のような定型表現もあります。

6. 久ひさしぶりに実家じっかに帰かえろうと思おもう。
I think I will go back to my parent's house for the first time in a while.

7. 彼かれとしばらくぶりに会あう約束やくそくをした。
I made an appointment to meet with him for the first time in a while.

・しばらくの間あいだ禁酒きんしゅしていたので、お酒さけを飲のむのは去年きょねんの３月がつぶりだ。
I have been abstinent from alcohol for a while, so it is the first time since last March that I have had a drink.

・マラソン大会たいかいに出場しゅつじょうするのは、10年ねんぶりです。
It is the first time in 10 years for me to compete in a marathon.

・彼かれからの一週間いっしゅうかんぶりの連絡れんらくは、たった３行ぎょうのメッセージだった。
His first contact in a week was a mere three-line message.

・地元じもとプロ野球やきゅうチームの18年ねんぶりの優勝ゆうしょうに、多おおくの人ひとが喜よろこんだ。
Many people were happy to see the local professional baseball team win the championship for the first time in 18 years.
