文法-意味 grammar meaning

～ 一方で 

【例文】

①毎年まいとし、倒産とうさんする会社かいしゃがたくさんある一方で、新あたらしく設立せつりつされる会社かいしゃもあります。
While there are many companies that go bankrupt every year, there are also new companies that are established.

②彼かれは日本語にほんごを勉強べんきょうする一方で、中国語ちゅうごくごも勉強べんきょうしている
While studying Japanese, he is also learning Chinese.

 

【意味】
①～けど/だけど
②～と同時に

 

【用法】
①「良い事」と「悪い事」といった二つの対照的な物事を述べるために使われます。

② 異なる二つのことを同時に行っているといいたい時に使われます。

 

【英語】 while ~, 
①”~ ippoude” is used to describe two contrasting things, such as a "good" thing and a "bad" thing.

②”~ippoude" is used when you want to say that you are doing two different things at the same time.

【文法解説】Grammar point 1：

例文1のように「～。その一方」の形で使われることもあります。

1. 今回こんかいのコロナの影響えいきょうによりたくさんの企業きぎょうが倒産とうさんした。その一方、新あたらしく生うまれたビジネスもある。
Many companies have gone bankrupt as a result of the Corona disaster. On the other hand, some new businesses have been born.

また、例文2のように「一方では～、他方では～」の形で使われることもよくあります。

2. 彼かれは、一方ではもちろん挑戦ちょうせんしたい気持きもちもあったが、他方たほうでは心こころの中なかにそれを恐おそれている自分じぶんがいた。
Of course, he wanted to challenge himself on the one hand, but on the other hand, there was a part of him that was afraid of it in his heart.

【文法解説】Grammar point 2：

例文3のように「一方で」の「で」は省略されることがよくあります。

3. 倒産とうさんする会社かいしゃがある一方、新あたらしく設立せつりつされる会社かいしゃもある。
Some companies go bankrupt, while others are newly established.

用法１：二つの対照的なこと

・国内こくないでの売うり上あげが落おちる一方で、海外かいがいでの売うり上あげはこの一年間いちねんかん好調こうちょうだった。
While domestic sales have declined, overseas sales have been strong for the past year.

・この商品しょうひんは男性だんせいに人気にんきな一方で、女性じょせいからの評判ひょうばんはあまり良よくない。
While this product is popular among men, it is not well received by women.

・その国くにでは、お金持かねもちへの税金ぜいきんが優遇ゆうぐうされる一方、貧まずしい人ひとへの支援しえんは限かぎられていた。
In that country, taxes were favored for the rich, while support for the poor was limited.

・彼かれは会社かいしゃでは厳格げんかくな上司じょうしである一方で、家庭かていでは子供こどもに相当そうとう甘あまいらしい。
While he is a strict boss at work, he seems to be quite lenient with his children at home.

・京都きょうとや大阪おおさかなどを訪おとずれる旅行客りょこうきゃくがたくさんいる一方、三重みえや和歌山わかやまに訪おとずれる人ひとは少すくない。
While there are many tourists visiting Kyoto and Osaka, not many people visit Mie and Wakayama.

用法２：同時に

・あの企業きぎょうはIT企業きぎょうである一方、農業のうぎょうビジネスにも参入さんにゅうしている。
While that company is an IT company, it is also in the agricultural business.

・彼かれはよし子こさんと付つき合あう一方で、さとみさんともデートをしていた。
While he was dating Yoshiko, he was also dating Satomi.

・彼かれは大学だいがくで英語えいごを教おしえる一方で、ボランティアでドイツ語ごも教おしえている。
He teaches English at the university and also teaches German as a volunteer.

・あの人ひとは有名ゆうめいレストランのシェフである一方で、テレビにも出演しゅつえんしている。
That man is not only a chef at a famous restaurant, but he also appears on TV.
