～か何か

【例文】

①あそこの店みせでコーヒーか何なにか飲のみませんか？
Would you like to have coffee or something at that place over there?

②そのことについては雑誌ざっしの記事きじか何なにかで読よんだことがあります。
I have read about that in a magazine article or something.

【意味・用法】
①「～か、またはそのようなもの」という意味で、「～」が一例であることを示すために使われます。

②話し手の「はっきりとは覚えてない、その情報が正確かはわからない」という態度を示すために使われます。

【英語】~ or something

①"~kananika"  means "~ or something" and is used to indicate that "~" is just an example.

②"~kananika" is used to indicate that the speaker is uncertain about their memory or the accuracy of the information.

【Grammar point】

■ 用法①の使い方

「～かそれと似たようなもの/こと」という意味で使われます。例文2,3にあるように、どういった意味で似たようなものなのかを示して使うこともできます。

1. 体からだがすごく柔やわらかいですね。バレエか何か習ならってたんですか？
Your body is very flexible. Did you learn ballet or something?

2. こんなに暑あついと、アイスか何か冷つめたいものを食たべたくなるね。
When it's this hot, I feel like eating some ice cream or something cold.

3. 運転免許証うんてんめんきょしょうか何か身分みぶんを証明しょうめいできるものはありますか？
Do you have a driver's license or some other form of identification?

■ 用法②の使い方

その情報の正確さに確信を持っていないという話し手の態度を示すために使われます。

4. 彼かれとは昔むかし、友達ともだちの誕生日会たんじょうびかいか何かで会あったことがあると思おもいます。
I think I met him once before at a friend's birthday party or something.

5. 事故じこか何かで、電車でんしゃが止とまっているらしいです。
I heard that the train was stopped due to an accident or something

■ 助詞の省略

直後に助詞「が」と「を」が来る場合、会話においてはその「が」と「を」は省略されることも多いです。

6. コーヒーか何か（を）飲のみたいです。
I would like to have a cup of coffee or something.

7. あそこには新あたらしいビルか何か（が）建たつらしい。
I heard that a new building or something will be built there.

■ ～かなんか

カジュアルな会話では代わりに「～かなんか」も使われます。

8. 彼かれは昔むかし、空手からてかなんかを習ならってたらしい。
He used to learn karate or something.

■ ～かどこか/～か誰か

「～かどこか」や「～か誰か」いう表現もあります。

～かどこか

9. 鍵かぎは机つくえの上うえかどこか、わかりやすいところに置おいといてください。
Please leave the key where it is easy to find, on my desk or somewhere else.

10. 友達ともだちか誰かからお金かねを借かりることは出来できないんですか？
Can't you borrow money from a friend or someone else?

※原因・理由の「で」と一緒に使う場合など、動詞・イ/ナ形容詞・名詞の普通形に接続する場合もあります。

・彼かれは営業成績えいぎょうせいせきが悪わるかったか何かで、クビになったそうだ。
He was fired for poor sales performance or something.

・親おやの言いうことに従したがわなかったか何かで、彼かれは家いえを追おい出だされた。
He was kicked out of his house for not obeying his parents or something.

用法①：

・コーヒーか何か飲のみますか？
Would you like some coffee or something?

・ひもか何か縛しばるものを持もっていませんか？
Do you have a string or something to tie this down with?

・広ひろい庭にわのある家いえに引ひっ越こしたら、犬いぬか何か飼かいたいと考かんがえています。
When I move into a house with a large yard, I would like to get a dog or something.

・棒ぼうか何か長ながいものがあれば、隙間すきまに入はいった小銭こぜにを取とれそうです。
If there is a stick or something long enough, it would be possible to get the coins in the crevices.

・地震じしんか何かで停電ていでんになったときでも大丈夫だいじょうぶなように、懐中電灯かいちゅうでんとうを家いえに置おいておいたほうがいい。
You should keep a flashlight in your house in case of a power outage due to an earthquake or something.

・喫茶店きっさてんに行いくか何かしてちょっと時間じかんをつぶしましょう。
Go to a coffee shop or do something to kill a little time.

用法②：

・テレビ番組ばんぐみか何かで、その話はなしを聞きいたことがあります。
I heard about it on a TV show or something.

・明日あしたはマラソン大会たいかいか何かで道路どうろが通行止つうこうどめになるらしいよ。
I heard the roads will be closed tomorrow for a marathon or something.

・彼かれは病院びょういんに行いくか何かで明日あしたは学校がっこうを休やすむそうだ。
He is going to the hospital or something and will miss school tomorrow.

・彼女かのじょは昔むかし、交通事故こうつうじこにあったか何かで大おおけがをしたことがあるそうです。
She had once been in a car accident or something and was badly injured.
