【例文】
①明日までにレポートを終わらせるなんて、そんなの無理に決まってる。
It's definitely impossible for me to finish my report by tomorrow.
②毎日そんだけ食べたら、太るに決まっている。
If you eat that much every day, you're bound to get fat.
【意味・用法】
①話し手が強い確信を持って何らかの予想を述べるときに使われます。
②既に出ている結果に対して、「理由から考えて、そうなるのは必然だった」という場合に使われます。
【英語】
”-nikimatteiru/-nikimatteru" is used when the speaker states his or her opinion with a high degree of certainty. It can also be used to say, "It was inevitable that this would happen, given the certain facts.
【Grammar point】
カジュアルな会話では、「決まってる」と「い」は省略されることが多いです。
1. 彼があの大学を受けたって落ちるに決まって(い)る。
If he applied to that university, he would definitely fail.
