【文法解説】Grammar point 1：

よい結果と悪い結果

「～末に」は、良い結果と悪い結果のどちらの場合でも使うことができます。良い結果の場合は「ようやく・やっと」、悪い結果の場合には「結局」、などといった言葉と使われることがよくあります。

1.[良い結果]
彼かれとは5年ねん付つき合あった末に、ようやく結婚けっこんしました。
After five years of dating him, we finally got married.

2.[悪い結果]
彼かれとは5年ねん付つき合あった末に、結局けっきょく別わかれてしまった。
After five years of dating him, we eventually broke up.

それに対し「～あげく」は悪い結果の時に使います。

【その他】：

■「～末に」の「に」は省略される場合もあります。

・警察けいさつの長時間ちょうじかんにわたる説得せっとくの末、犯人はんにんは人質ひとじちを解放かいほうした。
After long hours of persuasion by the police, the perpetrators released the hostages.

・話はなし合あいの末、彼かれが皆みなを代表だいひょうして謝あやまりに行いくことに決きまった。
After discussion, it was decided that he would go and apologize on behalf of everyone.
