V たことにする

この話は聞かなかったことにします。

【意味・用法】
事実に反することを、事実であるかように扱ったり、ふるまったりするという意味で使われます。
【英語】
”~ kotonisuru" is used to say that treating something that is not true as if it were true or pretending that it is true.

■ V（辞）/ V（た）ことにするの違い
V（辞）ことにする[例1]は、自分の中でそうすると決めたことを相手に伝える形式ですが、V（た）ことにする[例2]は、事実に反してある物事をそのように取り扱う、または振舞うという意味で使われます。
1. レポートをちゃんと自分で書くことにしました。
I decided to write the report properly myself.
2. そのレポートは本当は友達に書いてもらったのだが、自分で書いたことにして提出した。
The report was actually written by a friend, but I submitted it as if I had written it myself.
接続 formation
そのように取り扱う、振舞うという意味で「ことにする」という意味で使われる時、動詞（た/なかった）以外に、名詞や形容詞の普通形にも接続します。
名詞+（だ）ということ
・今回の問題は全て、彼の責任（だ）ということにしましょう。
He stated that he did not know anything about this.
イ形容詞+ということ
・今回のことは、彼が全て悪いということにしましょう。
Let's pretend that he is all wrong this time.
ナ形容詞+ということ
・彼は地元では有名な悪だったということにして、不良キャラで売り出しましょう。
Let's pretend he was a well-known local evil and market him as a delinquent character.

「ある」や「いる」など、動詞の辞書形で現在の状態を表すことができるものは辞書形と使うこともできます。
・彼氏がいることにして、あの人からのデートの誘いを断った。
