文法-意味 grammar meaning

【文法解説】Grammar point 1：

「ようがない」は、”手段や方法がないので”ということを強調して、「できない」ということを言うために使われます。従って、例文(2)のように禁止されているから「できない」と言う場合や、また例文(4)のように能力が足りないためにできないという場合には基本的に使われません。

(1) 彼かれは二十歳はたちになっていないので、お酒さけを飲のめない。〇
He has not turned 20 years old and cannot drink alcohol.

(2) 彼かれは二十歳はたちになっていないので、お酒さけを飲のみようがない。△

(3) 私わたしの体力たいりょくでは、そんなに高たかい山やまは登のぼれない。〇
With my physical strength, I can't climb that high of a mountain.

(4) 私わたしの体力たいりょくでは、そんなに高たかい山やまは登のぼりようがない。△

接続  formation

 V （ます形）：ます ＋ ようがない
（分かりようがない、成功しようがない）

例文 example sentences

・彼自身かれじしんが勉強べんきょうしようとしていなければ、教おしえようがない。
If he himself is not willing to learn, there is no way to teach him.

・お金かねを本当ほんとうに一円えんも持もっていないので、彼かれにお金かねを返かえしようがない。
I really don't have a penny of money, so I have no way to pay him back.

・もう既すでにかなりの経費削減けいひさくげんを行おこなったので、これ以上いじょう削減さくげんをしようがない。
We have already made considerable cost reductions, and there is no way to make further cuts.

・地震じしんで電車でんしゃが止とまってしまったので、家いえに帰かえりようがない。
The earthquake stopped the trains, so there was no way to get home.

・彼かれが事情じじょうを話はなしてくれなければ、困こまっていても助たすけようがない。
If he doesn't tell me what's going on, I can't help him even if he's in trouble.

・あんな衝撃的しょうげきてきな事こと、忘わすれようと思おもっても忘わすれようがない。
There is no way to forget something that shocking, even if I wanted to.

・新聞しんぶんの文字もじが小ちいさすぎて、眼鏡めがねなしでは読よみようがない。
The letters in the newspaper are too small to read without glasses.

・どんなに拷問ごうもんされようが、知しらないことは話はなしようがない。
No matter how tortured I am, there is no way to talk about what I don't 

・こんなに不景気ふけいきでは、ちゃんとした給料きゅうりょうの仕事しごとを見みつけようがない。
In such a recession, there is no way to find a decent paying job.

・彼かれがどこに住すんでいる分わからないので、手紙てがみの出だしようがない。
I don't know where he lives, so I have no way to send him a letter.
