その衝動を抑えられず～する
【用法】
「したいという衝動」や、「感情」や、「泣く・笑う・叫ぶといった感情の表出」などを抑えることができなくて「～」すると言いたい時に使われます。
【英語】can't help but ~
"~zuniwairarenai" is used when you want to say you do something because you can't control ”the urge to do something," "emotion," or "expression of emotion such as crying, laughing, or shouting.”
【文法解説】Grammar point 1：
「て仕方ない」と「ずにはいられない」の違い
①接続する品詞の違い
ずにいられない → 動詞のみに接続
て仕方ない → 形容詞（「V＋たい」を含む）に接続。動詞は「お腹がすく」「喉がかわく」「思える」など感覚や感情を表す言葉に限定されます。
1. お酒を飲まずにはいられない。〇
I can't help but drink.
2. お酒を飲んで仕方ない。
（お酒を飲みたくて仕方がない。）〇
I want to drink alcohol so badly.
②過去の形
「て仕方ない」が「～たくて仕方なかった」の形で使われるときは、その感情にフォーカスして述べる言い方で、実際にその行動をとったかどうかについてはわからない。
それに対して「～ずにはいられなかった」はその感情が抑えられず実際に「した」場合に使われる。したがって、例文6のような言い方はされない。
3. 私はその秘密を誰かに話したくて仕方なかった。〇
（すごく話したかった。だが実際に話したかはわからない。）
I wanted to tell that secret to someone very much.
4. 私はその秘密を誰かに話さずにはいられなかった。〇
（話したいという衝動があった。そして実際に話した。）
I couldn't resist telling someone about the secret.
5. 私はその秘密を誰かに話したくて仕方がなかったが、誰にも話さずにおいた。〇
I wanted to tell that secret to someone very much, but I didn't tell anyone.
6. 私はその秘密を誰かに話さずにはいられなかったが、誰にも話さずにおいた。✖
I couldn't resist telling someone about the secret, but I didn't tell anyone.

接続 formation
「動詞のない形」に接続します。「ずにはいられない」のように「は」がない形も使われます。
