文法-意味 grammar meaning

～ば～ほど

【例文】

楽器がっきは練習れんしゅうすればするほど上手じょうずになります。
The more you practice, the better you get at your instrument.

【意味】
～という行為の回数や量に比例して

【用法】
「～」という程度・行為の回数・量などに比例して、何かが変化すると言いたい時に使われます。

【英語】
"-ba-hodo" is used to say that something changes in proportion to the degree, number of acts, or amount of "~."

【文法解説】Grammar point ：

使い方：

例文1のように同じ動詞を繰り返して使用します。また例文2のように「～ば」の部分は省略されることもあります。

1. たくさん買かえば買かうほど、割引率わりびきりつが上あがります。
The more you buy, the more discount you will get.

ナ形容詞と接続し、「～であれば」の形を使う場合は例文3,4のどちらの形も使われます。

「する動詞」の場合、例文5,6のように二つの形のどちらも使われます。

接続  formation

「動詞・い形容詞・な形容詞・名詞」に接続します。

V（ば形） ＋ V（辞書形）＋ ほど
（食べれば食べるほど）

イ形（い）ければ ＋ イ形（い）＋ほど
（辛ければ辛いほど）

ナ形（な）であれば ＋ ナ形（な）＋ であるほど
（好きであれば好きであるほど）
（好きであればあるほど）

ナ形（な）ら ＋ ナ形（な）＋ ほど
（静かなら静かなほど）

 N であれば ＋ N ＋ であるほど
（金持ちであれば金持ちであるほど）

例文 example sentences

・年としをとればとるほど、記憶力きおくりょくは低下ていかしてくる。
The older we get, the more our memory declines.

I own stock in that company, so the more sales that company has, the happier I am.

The more a person's song is sung at karaoke, the more money the singer will receive.

・メールの返信へんしんは早はやければ早はやいほどいい。
The faster you reply to emails, the better.

・骨董品こっとうひんは古ふるければ古ふるいほど価値かちが高たかくなる。
The older an antique is, the more valuable it becomes.
