【例文】

①彼かれが離婚りこんしたことを、友達ともだちを通とおして知しった。
I found out through a friend that he was divorced.

②手紙てがみを通とおして彼かれとやりとりしている。
I am communicating with him through letters.

③ボランティア活動かつどうを通とおしてたくさんのことを学まなんだ。
I learned a lot through my volunteer activities.

【意味】
① ～を仲介として
② ～という手段で
② ～という活動で（学んだ、経験した）

【用法】
①「友達を通して聞いた」や「弁護士を通して伝える」のように、情報伝達やコミュニケーションの仲介者を示す時に使います。

②「ニュースを通して知った」や「電話を通して伝える」のように、情報伝達やコミュニケーションの手段を示す時に使います。

③「ボランティア活動を通して学んだ」のように、何の活動から知識・経験などを得たかを示すために使います。

①”~otsuujite/otooshite" is used to indicate who will be used as an intermediary for information transfer and communication.

【別の用法】
～を通して/通じて（期間）

【Grammar point】

■「通とおして」と「通つうじて」の違い

送り仮名が「して」の場合は「通とおして」と読み、送り仮名が「じて」の場合は「通つうじて」と読みます。

意味はほとんど一緒ですが、「とおして」の方が”能動的に行っている”というニュアンスがあり、「つうじて」は”自然に”というニュアンスがあります。

1. 子こども達たちもインターネットを通とおして、様々さまざまな情報じょうほうを得えている。
Children also get a variety of information through the Internet.

2. 子こども達たちもインターネットを通つうじて、様々さまざまな情報じょうほうを得えている。

■ 経路や交通手段→×

「～を通して/～を通じて」は情報伝達の手段に使われ、交通の経路や交通手段を示すためには使われません。
