【文法解説」Grammar point 1：

「ようとしない」と「ようともしない」の違い

「ようとしない」の代わりに「ようともしない（例文２）」が使われることもあります。その場合、「少しの意志も見せなかった、そんな小さなことをする意志も見せなかった」と、さらに批判のニュアンスが強まります。

My daughter only eats what she likes and never tries to eat anything she doesn't like.

He didn't even try to apologize for causing me so much trouble.

・彼かれは自分じぶんには才能さいのうがないと諦あきらめ、挑戦ちょうせんしようともしない。
He gives up, thinking he has no talent, and never even attempts to try.
