V（て）＋みせる

【例文】

①まずは私わたしがこの単語たんごを発音はつおんしてみせるので、しっかり聞きいてください。
First, I will pronounce these words for you, so please listen carefully.

②絶対ぜったいに彼かれに勝かってみせます！
I’ll definitely win against him!

【意味・用法】
①「V」という行為を他者に示すという意味。特にお手本として示したり、見せびらかすように示す場合に使われます。

②「V」ということを絶対に達成するという強い決意表明を示すために使われます。

【英語】
①"~ temiseru" means to demonstrate the act of 'V' to others, especially when presenting it as an example or showing it off.

②"~ temiseru" is used to express a strong determination to achieve something absolutely.

【Grammar point】

用法①

「V＋てみせる」は「V」という行為を示すという意味で使われます。特に例文１のようにお手本として「V」という行為を見せたり、また、「V」を誇示するように見せる場合によく使われます。

1. 先生せんせいは生徒せいとのために漢字かんじを書かいてみせた。
The teacher wrote kanji characters for the students.

2. 彼かれらは宣言通せんげんどおりその大会たいかいで優勝ゆうしょうしてみせた。
They won that competition as they declared.

「V＋てみせる」の「みせる」は、動詞の「見せる」から来ているが、別の動詞のテ形に接続して使われる場合はこれは視覚的に「見せる」ことに限定されず、「ピアノを弾いてみせる」、「歌を歌ってみせる」といった使い方をすることもできます。

3. 彼かれは生徒せいとのためにその歌うたを歌うたってみせた。
He sang the song for his students.

V（て） + みせる

用法①

・私わたしがこの漢字かんじを書かいてみせるので、それをまねして書かいてみてください。
I will show you how to write this kanji and you can try to imitate it.

・そんなに言いうならまず自分じぶんがやってみせたらどうですか？
If you are so sure, why don't you try it yourself first?

・そのピアノの先生せんせいは生徒せいとのために、まずは自分じぶんで弾ひいてみせた。
The piano teacher first played it himself for his students.

・その複雑ふくざつな装置そうちの使つかい方かたを教おしえるために、彼かれはまず自分じぶんが使つかってみせた。
To teach them how to use the complex device, he first showed them how to use it himself.

・彼かれは一口ひとくちでその大おおきな肉にくまんを食たべてみせた。
He ate that big steamed bun in one bite.

用法②

・あの大学だいがくに絶対ぜったい合格ごうかくしてみせる！
I will definitely get into that university!

・次つぎの試合しあいでは絶対ぜったいにあいつに勝かってみせます。
I will definitely win my next match against that guy.

・誰だれに何なんといわれようと、歌手かしゅになるという夢ゆめを叶かなえてみせます。
No matter what anyone says, I will surely fulfill my dream of becoming a singer.

・今月こんげつは100個こ、この製品せいひんを売うってみせます。
I will sell 100 units of this product this month.

・この事件じけんの犯人はんにんは、必かならず私わたしの手てで捕つかまえてみせる。
I will definitely catch the culprits in this case with my own hands.
