文法-意味 grammar meaning

～ ともなると/～ともなれば

【例文】

①ワールドカップの決勝けっしょうともなると、普段ふだんサッカーに興味きょうみのない人でさえもテレビで応援おうえんするようになる。
When it comes to the World Cup finals, even people who normally have no interest in soccer start cheering for the team on TV.

②深夜しんや１時じ２時じともなると、賑にぎやかだった商店街しょうてんがいの人通ひとどおりもまばらになってくる。
At 1:00 a.m. or 2:00 a.m., the busy shopping street becomes sparsely populated.

【意味・用法】
状況や立場を表す言葉などと接続し、「～という特別な状況・立場になると」という意味で使われます。

また、時や年齢を表す言葉などと接続し、「～という十分な時間が経った時期になると、～という十分な年齢になると」という意味で使われることもあります。

【英語】 
"~ tomonaruto/tomonareba" is used in connection with words that describe a situation or position, and means  "When in the special situation or position of ~.

It can also be used in connection with words that express time or age, annd means "when a sufficient amount of time has passed," or "when a sufficient amount of age has passed," .

接続  formation

「動詞・イ形容詞・ナ形容詞・名詞」の普通形に接続します。

 V（普通形）  + ともなると/ともなれば

 イ形（普通形）  + ともなると/ともなれば

 ナ形（普通形）  + ともなると/ともなれば
（非過去肯定：だ）

 N（普通形）  + ともなると/ともなれば

例文 example sentences

～ともなると：

・海外かいがいの大学だいがくに進学しんがくするともなると、学費がくひや諸々もろもろの費用ひようでそれなりのお金かねがかかる。
If you are going to a university abroad, it will cost a good amount of money for tuition and other expenses.

・今いまから一流大学いちりゅうだいがく合格ごうかくを目指めざすともなると、かなりの努力どりょくが必要ひつようですよ。
If you are aiming to get into a top university now, it will take a lot of effort.

・中学生ちゅうがくせいともなると、親おやの手てを借かりずにたいていのことは一人ひとりでできるようになる。
In junior high school, students are able to do most things on their own without the help of their parents.

・この辺あたりでは10月がつ後半こうはんともなると、雪ゆきがちらつくほどの寒さむさとなります。
In this area, it can be cold enough in late October for snow to flicker.

・30年前ねんまえのことともなると、何なにがあったか明確めいかくに思おもい出だすのには苦労くろうする。
Given that it was 30 years ago, it is hard to recall clearly what happened.

～ともなれば：

・上場企業じょうじょうきぎょうともなれば、利益りえきを上あげるだけでなく社会的責任しゃかいてきせきにんというものも付つきまとう。
When a company is listed on a stock exchange, it not only has to make a profit but also has a social responsibility.

・二国間にこくかんの対立たいりつが戦争せんそうに発展はってんするともなれば、周囲しゅういの国々くにぐににも甚大じんだいな影響えいきょうが出でるのは確実かくじつである。
If the conflict between the two countries were to escalate into war, it would certainly have a tremendous impact on the surrounding countries.

・国民こくみんを代表だいひょうする政治家せいじかともなれば、色々いろいろ忙いそがしく、私わたしに会あう時間じかんなど容易よういにはとれないのだろう。
As a politician representing the people, he is busy with many things and probably does not have time to meet with me easily.

・夜よるの十二時じゅうにじともなれば、その賑にぎやかだった通とおりも落おち着つきを見みせ始はじめる。
By midnight, the bustling street begins to calm down.

・10月がつともなれば、暑あつさも和やわらぎ山々やまやまは秋あきの装よそおいを見みせ始はじめる頃ころだ。
