While out for a walk, maybe I’ll stop by the shop he runs.

Last month, I visited my son in Tokyo while on a business trip.

・買い物がてら、そのデパートに新しくできたマフィンの店にも立ち寄った。
While shopping, I also stopped by the new muffin shop in the department store.

・運動がてら、今日は歩いて帰ることにするよ。
As a bit of exercise, I’ll walk home today.

・駅まで行きがてら、川沿いに咲いている桜を眺めた。
On the way to the station, I enjoyed looking at the cherry blossoms along the river.

・会社の同僚と食事がてらお酒を数杯飲んだだけだよ。
I just had a few drinks while eating with a coworker.

・喫煙室で一服がてら、彼と世間話を交わした。
While taking a smoke break in the smoking room, I had a chat with him.
