～の状況を利用して

【用法】
「～のをいいことに」は、「～」という事実、状況などを利用して何らの良くないことを行うという意味で使われる。特に、そのことに対して批判的に言う場合に使われる。

【英語】 take advantage of ~
 "～のをいいことに" is used in the sense of taking advantage of the fact or situation of "~" to do something improper, unethical, or selfish. It is especially used when one is critical of the thing.

■ 使われ方

「～のをいいことに」の後ろには、何等かの悪事、不適切な行為や、自分勝手な行為などが述べられ、それを批判するニュアンスで使われます。

1. 本人ほんにんがいないのをいいことに、彼女かのじょはその人ひとの悪口わるくちをみんなに言いいまくった。
Taking advantage of the fact that the person was not present, she said bad things about him to everyone.
