文法-意味 grammar meaning

N たりとも

【例文】

あなたのことを思おもい出ださない日ひは一日いちにちたりともなかった。
Not a single day went by that I didn't think of you.

【意味】
～も

【意味】
「たりとも」は、「N」に「一日、一人、一杯」といった言葉を用い、また、後ろに「ない」などの否定の形を伴って使われます。「N」という最小の数量すらないと言うことにより、「完全に～ない」「全く～ない」ということを強調します。

【英語】 
"~ taritomo" is used with a word "N" such as "一日,一人,一杯” and also followed by a negative form such as "ない". By saying that there is not even the smallest quantity of "n," it emphasizes that there is nothing. 

【文法解説】Grammar point 1:

「N たりとも」の「N」には、「１＋助数詞」の組み合わせが入ります。また「一瞬」という言葉もよく使われます。

＜N に入る言葉＞

一日たりとも、一秒たりとも、一瞬たりとも、一回たりとも、一度たりとも、一人たりとも、一匹たりとも、一枚たりとも、一本たりとも、一円たりとも、etc.

「N＋たりとも」の後ろには、「ません」「ない」「ず」などの否定の形が伴います。

1. これ以上いじょう一秒いちびょうたりとも待まてません。
We cannot wait anymore, not even for a second.

2. 先月せんげつは一日いちにちたりとも遅刻ちこくせずに学校がっこうに来きました。
Last month I came to school without being late even for a single day.

接続  formation

「N（１＋助数詞）」の組み合わせに接続します。後ろには否定の「ない」「ず」などを伴います。

・昨日きのうのあの格闘技かくとうぎの一戦いっせんは、一瞬いっしゅんたりとも目めを離はなせないほど面白おもしろい試合しあいだった。
That fight yesterday was so interesting that I couldn't take my eyes off of it for even a second.

・私わたしは結婚けっこんしてから一度いちどたりとも浮気うわきしたことはありません。
I have never cheated even once since I have been married.

・あなたに貸かすお金かねなど私わたしは一円いちえんたりとも持もっていません。
I do not have a single penny to lend you.

・一人ひとりたりとも不幸ふこうな交通事故こうつうじこで命いのちを落おとす人ひとがいないようにしたい。
I want to make sure that not a single person loses their life in an unfortunate car accident.

・私わたしは高校こうこうの３年間ねんかん、一日いちにちたりとも欠席けっせきすることなく学校がっこうに行いきました。
I went to school all three years of high school without missing a single day.

・あのゴールキーパーは、この試合しあいで一点いってんたりとも相手あいてチームに得点とくてんを許ゆるさなかった。
That goalkeeper did not allow the opposing team to score a single goal in the match.

・今月こんげつはまだ一件いっけんたりとも契約けいやくをとれてないので焦あせっています。
I am frustrated because I have not been able to get any contracts yet this month.

・３年前ねんまえに禁煙きんえんしてから、タバコは一本いっぽんたりとも吸すっていません
I have not smoked even a single cigarette since I quit smoking 3 years ago.

・あの男おとこには一歩いっぽたりともうちの敷地しきちに足あしを踏ふみ入いれてもらいたくない。
I don't want that man to set foot on our property even one step.

・あの時ときに味あじわった屈辱くつじょくを一時いっときたりとも忘わすれたことはない。
I have never forgotten, not even for a moment, the humiliation I experienced at that moment.
