文法-意味 grammar meaning

N1 としてあるまじき N2

【例文】

賄賂わいろを受うけ取とるなど政治家せいじかとしてあるまじき行おこないである。
It is unbecoming of a politician to accept bribes.

【意味】
N1 としてあってはならない N2

【用法】
「N1としてあるまじきN2」は「N1」に立場を表す言葉が入り、「N1としてあってはならないN2」という意味を表す。硬い表現。「N1にあるまじきN2」も同じように使われる。

【英語】
With words of positions,  ”~toshite arumajiki" means that it is unbecoming as the "N"

【文法解説】Grammar point 1:

「N1としてあるまじきN2」の「N1」には立場や地位などを表す言葉が入る。「N2」には以下のような言葉が良く使われる。

・道みちに倒たおれている人ひとを助たすけずに素通すどおりするなど人ひととしてあるまじき行為こういである。
It is unbecoming of a human being to pass by a person lying on the street without helping him or her.

・勝機しょうきも見みえないまま、ただ勇猛ゆうもうさだけをもって敵軍てきぐんに突つっ込こんでいくのは、人ひとの上うえに立たつものとしてあるまじき蛮行ばんこうである。
To rush into an enemy army with nothing more than bravery, with no chance of victory in sight, is a barbaric act that is unbecoming of one who stands above others.

・体調たいちょう管理かんりを怠おこたり試合しあいを欠場けつじょうする羽目はめになるなどプロとしてあるまじき失態しったいである。

That high school's baseball team suffered terrible defeats against weaker schools, which is unbecoming of a strong school.

～にあるまじき

・自みずから率先そっせんして物事ものごとを行おこなおうとしないのはリーダーにあるまじき態度たいどだ。
It is an attitude unbecoming of a leader not to take the initiative in doing things.

・その先生せんせいは教育者きょういくしゃにあるまじき言葉ことばを使い、成績せいせきの悪わるい生徒達せいとたちを罵倒ばとうした。
The teacher used language unbecoming of an educator and abused students with poor grades.

・酒さけに耽ふけり、身心しんしんの鍛錬たんれんを怠おこたるなど武士ぶしにあるまじき体ていたらくである。
It is unbecoming of a samurai to indulge in drinking and neglect physical and mental training.

・彼かれは少数者しょうすうしゃの意見いけんは取とり上あげる必要ひつようがないなどという政治家せいじかにあるまじき発言はつげんをした。
He made a statement, unbecoming of a politician, that the opinions of a minority need not be taken into account.

・特定とくていの生徒せいとだけを優遇ゆうぐうし、生徒せいとを平等びょうどうに扱あつかおうとしないのは教師きょうしにあるまじき振ふる舞まいである。
It is unbecoming behavior for a teacher to favor only certain students and not to treat them equally.
