【用法】
「過去の何かが起こった時点から今まで」何らかの状態が続いていると言いたい時に使われます。
【英語】
”~irai" is used to say that some state has continued "from the time something happened in the past until now."

■過去の時点から今まで
「～以来」は、例文1のように「過去の時点」から「今」まで、何かの状態や動作などが継続している場合に使います。
1. 高校に入学して以来、一度も遅刻していない。
（≒高校入学してから今まで、遅刻していないという状態が続いている）
I haven't been late once since I entered high school.
■近い過去は✖
比較的に短い期間に対しては「以来」は使われません。その場合は「～から」を使います。
2. 今日家に帰ってきて以来何も食べていない。✖
（今日家に帰ってきてから何も食べていない。〇）
I haven't eaten anything since I got home today.
■～以来初めて、～以来初の
基本的には「過去の時点」から何かが継続しているという時に使いますが、「初めて」や「初の」などと一緒に「過去のある時点」より後で初めて何かが起きた（何かをした）という場合にも使われます。
3. 今年、サッカー部が学校創立以来初めて全国大会で優勝した。
This year, the soccer team won the national championship for the first time since the school was founded.
