▷ 使われ方：用法①
例文1のように、「東西南北」や「左右前後上下」といった方向を表す言葉と使われたり、例文2のように、具体的な位置を示すものと一緒に使われたり、例文3のように「夢、未来、目標」といった抽象的な言葉などと使われたりと、色々な言葉と使われます。
1. 北に向かって10kim歩いた。
I walked 10 kilometers toward the north.
2. 政府のビルに向かってデモ隊は行進している。
The protesters are marching toward the government building.
3. 彼らは夢に向かって一生懸命努力している。
They are working hard towards their dreams.

「～に向かって」は、動いてるもの向かっている方向だけでなく、静的な状態の向きを示すためにも使われます。また「～に向かって右/左」のように明確な位置関係を示したい時にもよく使われます。
