【例文】
① 夕方から雨が降るそうなので、晴れているうちに洗濯物を干そう。
I heard it's supposed to rain in the evening, so let's hang the laundry while it's sunny.
② 日本に住んでいるうちに、自然と日本語が上手になりました。
While living in Japan, I naturally became fluent in Japanese.
③ 彼は会社に入って一週間経たないうちに辞めた。

【意味】
～間に
【用法】
①「～という状態が続いている間に」という意味で、後ろには話し手がすべきだと思う行為などが述べられる。特にその間にしないと、それをするチャンスを逃したり、何等かの不利益が生じる場面で使われる。
②「～」という状態の間に何らかの変化が徐々に起こった、または、いつの間にか起こったと言いたいときに使われます。
③時間的の短さ/早さを強調するために使われます。
【英語】while~ / before ~ happens
①”-uchini" means "while the state of ~ continues" or "before the situation of ~ changes". It is followed by an action that the speaker considers necessary to do during that period. This is especially used when failure to act might lead to missed opportunities or negative consequences.
②”-uchini" is used when you want to say that a gradual or unnoticed change occurs during the state of "~".
③”-uchini" emphasizes the shortness/quickness of the time.
【Grammar point】
■ 用法①
「～うちに」の後ろには話し手が「すべきだと考えている行為」を述べます。その間にしないと、それをするチャンスを逃したり、何等かの不利益が生じる場面で使われます。
動詞は「V+ている/V+ない」の形が使われ、「V+ている」は「その状態が続いている間に」という意味で、「V+ない」は「Vという変化が起こる前に」という意味で使われます。
1. 晴れているうちに、洗濯物を干しましょう。
Let's hang our laundry out to dry while the sun is still shining.
2. 料理が冷めないうちに食べてください。
Please eat before the food gets cold.
過去のことを述べる場合でも「V+た/ていた/なかった」など「た」は使いません。
3. 晴れ（ていた）ているうちに、洗濯物を干した。
While the sun was shining, I hung the laundry out to dry.
■ 用法②
後ろには、「徐々に起きる変化/いつの間にか起きる変化」などを述べます。
4. 住んでいるうちに、この町のことが好きになってきた。
While living here, I have come to love this city.
■「うちに」と「前に」の違い
「V（ない）+うちに」は「V（辞）+前に」に言い換えることもできます。
4. 忙しくならないうちに、他の仕事を済ませておこう。
