「V+にくい」は、その動作を行うのが難しいと言いたいときに使われる。

”V+nikui" is used when you want to say that a nature or characteristic of something is "difficult to V".

▷ 使われ方
「にくい」は、前に接続する動詞によって少し異なるニュアンスを持つ場合があります。大きく分けて以下のような使われ方をします。
①頑張ればできるが、それを行うのに苦労したり、スムーズに行えない。
②それを行うのが快適でない。
③心理的抵抗がある。
④たやすくそうならない傾向/性質がある。（この場合動詞は無意志動詞）
① この本は漢字も多くてちょっと読みにくいかもしれません。
This book may be a little difficult to read because of the many kanji characters.
① この包丁は古くて、切りにくいです。
This knife is old and difficult to cut.
② この靴はちょっと歩きにくいですね。
These shoes are a little uncomfortable to walk in.
② この椅子は硬くて座りにくい。
This chair is hard and uncomfortable to sit on.
③ ちょっと言いにくいことなんですが、チャックが空いてますよ。
This is a little hard to say, but your zipper is open.
③ 普通の人が聞きにくいことでも聞くのがインタビュアーの仕事だ。
It is the interviewer's job to ask questions that are hard for ordinary people to ask.
④ この壁は燃えにくい素材でできています。
These walls are made of flame-resistant materials.
④ もっと破れにくい袋はありませんか？

▷ 使えない場合
「難しい」とは違い、婉曲的に「できない」というときは「V＋にくい」は使えません。
1. 風邪を引いてしまい、明日は出社しにくいです。✖
2. 風邪を引いてしまい、明日は出社するのが難しいです。○
I have caught a cold and it will be difficult to come to work tomorrow.

（食べにくい、来にくい）
※ 「V＋にくい」はイ形容と同じように活用します。
（食べにくい、食べにくくない）
（食べにくかった、食べにくくなかった）
※ 後ろの名詞を修飾するときに「の」は要りません。
