～の途中に、～をしている時に
【用法】
「A 最中に B」の形で、「B」という行為や現象が「A」の途中で起こったと言いたい時に使います。特に「A」を中断させるような何かが起こった場合や、「A」の邪魔をされたくない状況の場合などによく使われます。
【英語】
in the middle of ~, while ~,
"~saichuni" is used in the form "A saichuu-ni B" to say that an action or phenomenon "B" occurred in the middle of "A."

以下の例文1,2のように、中断されたくないことをしているタイミングで、それを中断しなければいけないような何かが起こったと言いたい場面でよく使われます。
1. 休憩している最中に、上司に呼び出された。
