【用法】
「Aだけではなく、Bも～」と言いたい時や、「Aに限定された話ではなく、Bというもっと広い範囲で～」と言いたい時に使われます。
【英語】
"~nikagirazu" is used to say, "not only A" or "not limited to A."
【文法解説】Grammar point 1：
「だけでなく」と「に限らず」の違い
「A だけでなく B 」は、「りんごだけでなくいちごも」のように、「A」と「B」に並列的な物を入れる場合と、「りんごだけでなく果物は」のように、「B」に「A」を包括する物を入れる場合の、どちらの場合にも使われます。
一方で「Ａ に限らず B 」の場合は、例文4のように「B」に「A」を包括する物を入れる場合には使われますが、例文3のように、単純に並列的なものを並べる場合には使われません。
1. りんごだけでなくいちごも好きです。〇
I like strawberries as well as apples.
2. りんごだけでなく果物はだいたい好きです。〇
I like most fruits, not only apples.
3. りんごに限らずいちごも好きです。△
I like strawberries as well as apples.
4. りんごに限らず果物はだいたい好きです。〇

したがって、以下の例文5,6の場合、「郵便局」と「銀行」という並列的な物を単純に並べているため、通常「に限らず」は使われず「だけでなく」が使われます。

ただし、「男性に限らず女性も」や「日本に限らず海外でも」のように、「A」と「B」が対になる概念であると思われる場合や、例文8のように、「B」に複数の物を列挙して、もっと広い範囲であるということを示したい場合には使われます。
7. この商品は男性に限らず、女性にも人気です。〇（AとBが対となる物なので○）

8. りんごに限らずいちごやみかんなども好きです。〇（並列的列挙なので○）
I like strawberries and oranges as well as apples.
また、例文3,5のように単純な列挙ではなく、「限定されていない」ということを話し手が強調して示したい場合には、例文9のように「限らず」も使われます。
9. 九州地方に限らず、中国地方も今回の台風で大きな被害にあった。

接続 formation
名詞に接続します。また、「だけ」と接続し「だけに限らず」の形で使われることもよくあります。
