①彼はその年齢にしては、少し子どもっぽい。

①～の感じがする、
②すぐに～する性格、
③～の成分が多く含まれる、
④～に近い色
【用法】
主に名詞や特定の動詞に接続して以下のような意味の形容詞を形成します。
※数は少ないが形容詞に接続する場合もある
①「男っぽい」「子供っぽい」のように「～の感じがする」という意味で使われます。
②「怒りっぽい」「飽きっぽい」のように、特定の動詞と接続し「すぐに～する性格」という意味で使われます。
③「粉っぽい」「水っぽい」「油っぽい」のように「～の成分が多く含まれる」という意味で使われます。この場合ネガティブなニュアンスになります。
④「黒っぽい」「茶色っぽい」など色を表す言葉と使われ、「～」に近い色という意味で使われます。

"-ppoi" is connected to nouns or specific verbs (and a very few adjectives) to form adjectives.
①”~ppoi" is used to mean "feeling like", as in "otoko-ppoi" or "kodomo-ppoi".
②”~ppoi "is used in conjunction with specific verbs to mean a personality that is easily ~, as in "okori-ppoi" and "aki-ppoi".
③"~ppoi" is used to mean "containing a lot of ~ ingredients," "kona-ppoi(powdery)","mizu-ppoi(watery)" and "abura-ppoi(oily)." In this case, these words have a negative connotation.
④"~ppoi" is used with words that express color to mean a color close to "~", as in "kuro-ppoi(blackish)" and "chairo-ppoi(brownish)."

■ 接続について
名詞の場合は様々な語に接続できますが、動詞と形容詞の場合、接続できる語は限られています。
例えば、「怒りっぽい」という言葉はあるが「泣きっぽい」という言葉はありません。同様に「安っぽい」という言葉はあるが、「高っぽい」という言葉はありません。
1. 彼は怒りっぽい性格だ。〇
He has an angry temperament.
2. 彼は泣きっぽい性格だ。✖
3. その鞄は安っぽく見える。〇
That bag looks cheap.
4. その鞄は高っぽく見える。✖

備考 notes
若者言葉としての「っぽい」
最近では若者を中心に、下記の例のような助動詞として使われる用法が定着しつつあります。この場合「～らしい」「～みたい」と同じように推量の意味で使われます。
このような使い方は「若者言葉」と呼ばれ、カジュアルな場面での会話では使われますが、書き言葉やフォーマルな場面では使用は避けられる傾向にあります。
・なんか最近、山田君と佐藤さん別れたっぽいよ。
（≒別れたみたいだよ。）
It seems that Yamada-kun and Sato-san have recently broken up.
・彼は明日の誕生日会来ないっぽいよ。
（≒来ないみたいだよ。）
It seems like he's not coming to the birthday party tomorrow.
