【用法】
「V」の行為や現象のすぐ後に予測していなかった物事が起こったということを、その時間的短さを強調して言うために使われます。

”~tatotan" is used to emphasize the shortness of time when something unexpected happens soon after the action or phenomenon of "V."
【文法解説】Grammar point 1：
予期していなかったこと
「～たとたんに」の後ろには、話し手が予期していなかったことを述べます。したがって、例文１,２のように使うことはできますが、例文３のように使うことはできません。
1. 家を出た途端に雨が降ってきた。〇
As soon as I left the house, it started to rain.
2. 彼にお金を貸した途端に、彼と連絡がとれなくなった。〇
As soon as I lent him the money, I lost contact with him.
3. お店に着いた途端に、客席に案内された。✖
As soon as I lent him the money, I lost contact with him.
※例文３は、話し手がそれを予測していなかったような特殊な場合は○だが普通なら×です。その場合は「お店に着いてすぐに客席に案内された。」のように「～すぐに」を使います。
【文法解説】Grammar point ２：
話し手の意志行為、依頼・命令✖
「～た途端に」の後ろの部分に、話し手が意志をもって行う行為や、誰かに対する依頼・命令は使えません。したがって、例文４,５のような使われ方はしません。
4.私は家に帰った途端に掃除した。✖
I cleaned it as soon as I got home.
5. 家に帰った途端に掃除してください。✖
Clean the room as soon as you get home.
【文法解説】Grammar point ３：
話し手の主観的な時間の短さ
客観的な時間の長さに関わらず、話し手が主観的に、「すぐ」と感じていれば使われます。
6.新しい社長になった途端に、あの会社は売上が上がった。
As soon as the new president took over, that company's sales went up.
※売上が上がったのが翌月だろうが、半年後だろうが、話し手が主観的に「すぐ」だと思っていれば使われる。
その他：
※ 良い事にも使えますが、悪い事が起きた場合に使われることが多いです。
※ 「～た途端に」の「に」は省略されることも多いです。
接続 formation
動詞（た形）に接続して使われます。
V（た形）＋ とたんに
（帰った途端に、言った途端に）
また「～と、～たら」と組み合わせ以下のような使われ方もされます。
・家を出ると、途端に雨が降り出した。
As soon as I left home, it began to rain.
・アメリカに留学したら、途端に英語が上手になった。
When I studied in the U.S., my English instantly became better.
※「その途端」という形で使われる場合もあります。
・私は家の窓を開けた。その途端に隣の家の犬が吠えだした。
